US dollars converted in the UK?
Im in the UK and have some money in the US. I'm trying to find the cheapest way to put money into a UK bank account from a US account. If I pull money from a cash machine my US bank charges a commission and I have no idea of the conversion rate. If I write a US check it takes a week to clear and still at the bank's mercy as to the conversion rate. Wiring the money is a possibility but there is also a fee involved. When I took USD in to the bank they offered me a certain amount which I declined and walked fifty feet down the road to a currency exchange shop and got fifty pounds more for my money. So what is the best avenue to take? Does anyone know the best route to take Jack, thanks but the second I take money from the US bank at a cash machine here they charge 3%.
