Why has gold been valued so much throughout human history? (Answers: 2) (Comments: 0)
I've read that it is very rare and has lots of high-tech applications. I have no idea how much it is needed for industry so I can't judge the current gold value however what about earlier human history? Like several thousand years ago when industry didn't exist. Why was it valued that much? I've also read that gold has been used a lot in jewelry because it looks nice and valued because it is an extremely passive metal (almost doesn't get destroyed by environment). But still, why was it so expensive? So e.g. if we lived in that times and I had a horse for sail why would I exchange a real thing that has real applications for a brick of rare and "nice-looking" metal, what would I do with it, especially if people suddenly decide that it is not nice-looking anymore? In other words it reminds me current currencies - people just agree that the piece of paper has value and use it for now. Am I missing something?

Mac to expensive? (Answers: 4) (Comments: 0)
I've been looking at Mac Books and for a Dual Core 2.0 GHz, 1GB RAM, 80 GB HDD and Combo Drive. And it costs in the UK £699.99 but in USA it costs $1099.99 which at current currency conversion is around half so £550 So Macs are more expensive in the UK and for £699.99 you can get a lot better PC. So yes Mac may be better but the cost like the PS3 will put people off, So maybe if Apple cut there price then they would get more sales. About the ad's I know they lie so much and thats why Im working on a parody of the mac ads.
