Goldwater Institute examining Glendale-Phoenix Coyotes arena payments

The Goldwater Institute watchdog group is scrutinizing a proposed $17 million fee the city of Glendale is ready to pay prospective Phoenix Coyotes owner Greg Jamison to help him buy the team from the National Hockey League.
That includes possibly pushing for that $17 million arena management fee earmarked for Jamison in the city budget to be opened up to other bidders.

Glendale says it will determine NFL parking plan, not Cardinals

The city of Glendale says the Arizona Cardinals do not have veto or dictation powers over the disputed parking contract that has the city providing 6,000 spots for National Football League games each season.
Glendale spokeswoman Julie Frisoni said the city is responsible for providing the 6,000 parking spots and determining where those spots are at Westgate City Center. Hawaii public school teachers ratify contract

The Hawaii State Teachers Association said Wednesday that two-thirds of its members have ratified a January labor agreement the state has said is no longer valid.
The HSTA reports that 66 percent of public school teachers voted ?yes? and 34 percent voted ?no? on the January contract settlement.

The Hawaii Restaurant Association is working on a guide designed for people who are interested in opening a restaurant in Hawaii.
The HRA estimates it is about a year away from publishing the how-to guide, which will include tips for financing, permitting, and opening a restaurant in Hawaii.
At the current time, the HRA has not determined whether the guide will be a free or paid service.

Macy?s Inc. has signed a deal with China-based online retailer omei.com to offer its private-label merchandise to consumers in China.

Hawaiian Electric Co. said Wednesday that the Hawaii Public Utilities Commission has approved an additional three-year biodiesel contract with Renewable Energy Group for HECO?s Campbell Industrial Park Generating Station.
Renewable Energy Group, based in Ames, Iowa, currently supplies biodiesel to Hawaiian Electric, a subsidiary of Hawaiian Electric Industries Inc. (NYSE: HE), under a contract that expires in July.

Delta Air Lines to close Seattle-area call center with 189 employees

Delta Airlines will be closing its reservations call center near SeaTac Airport on Sept. 1.
The center's 189 employees were notified of this decision on April 10, and they will be offered other positions within Delta, company spokesman Morgan Durrant said.
"It?s just a skill set that we will continue to need to serve our customers," he said.
If employees choose not to take those other positions, Delta has severance packages available to them, Durrant added.
